Creative Nonfiction
The excerpts linked below are part of Ten Years in a Trance, a manuscript developed in the MFA program in creative nonfiction at Goucher College. The project, weaving memoir, essay, reportage, and cultural criticism, explores the sounds of techno, the warehouse rave movement of the San Francisco Bay Area in its peak years before the millennium, the global dance culture, the explosive growth of the Internet and gadgetry in the mid-nineties, the transitional role of Generation Y, the cyclical nature of subculture, and the concept of a maternal machine through a personal, ethnographic, and cultural lens.
The prologue was published in the November 2007 issue of Soma Literary Review and gathered as excerpted material for Paul Oakenfold: The Authorised Biography.
